The Belmont Blazers are pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Van De Peer as Head Coach of the 2019-2020 Midget AA team.

Ben’s coaching history dates back to 1998 when he played overseas with the Swedish Brake Polar Bears. During Ben's playing time in Sweden, he coached a local Atom hockey team which lead him to a commitment and passion to working with our youth in development for hockey. He has mentored under former NHL’er and Team Canada 1972 member Pat Stapleton for 20+ years studying Pat’s Fundamentals In Action (F.I.A) Hockey program which was introduced in the mid 1980’s throughout Canada and the USA.

His playing experience includes: Thamesford Jr. D, Chatham MicMacs Jr. B, Strathroy Rockets Jr. B, Listowel Cyclones Jr. B, Oakville Blades Tier 2 Jr. A, Drafted to Sarnia Sting OHL, Aylmer Blues Sr. A, Swedish Brake Polar Bears Division 1, invite to Charlotte Checkers ECHL. During Ben’s playing career he trained under Brent McFarlane, 2000 Olympic Track & Field head coach, using his highly recognized Speed Agility Conditioning (S.A.C.) program for dryland training.

He has Coached/Managed/Trained for 10+ years at various levels in both Female and Male leagues and works with many players year round including players from House league levels to Jr. A/University/Semi-Pro. He has been Lead instructor for F.I.A.

Ben and his wife Kori have 3 children that play hockey with their oldest currently attending a Prep School in Indiana on a scholarship at Culver Military Academy. Ben is a graduate from Fanshawe College through the Electronics Engineering Robotics and Process Control program and currently works as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in the Automotive Industry.

Practices: Monday and Thursday nights, 7:30pm-9:00pm in Aylmer
Home Games: Saturday night 7:00pm-8:30pm in Dorchester
