The girls started out strong in pool play with a 1-0 win over Wilmot. Next up was our rival, the St Thomas Panthers. A hard fought game earned us a 2-1 victory. We then played Ilderton to a 1-1 tie to finish 1st in pool play out of 6 teams with a 2-0-1 record.
We woke up Sunday morning to learn that we were playing our friends St Thomas again in the semis. Some of us might've still been sleeping when the game started as we spotted them a 2-0 lead halfway through the 1st period. The girls battled back to score 1 before the end of the 1st and we were able to tie by the end of the second. We traded goals to start the 3rd and then potted the game winner with 2 minutes left. What a game!! 4-3 win and on to the finals to face South Huron.
South Huron is one of the top teams in Ontario and we had spent a lot of energy in the semis. That combination of things proved too costly as we lost a tough one in the finals.
The girls, who have had a great attitude all year, were still proud of their silvers as you can see in the picture.
Our last 2 tournaments have produced a gold and a silver....great job girls!!!
