Atom C, Atom, 2012-2013 (Belmont, Aylmer, Dorchester Blazers)

With a record of 1 win, 1 loss and 2 ties last week the girls are playing some of their best hockey of the season.  The coaching staff has them playing together as a team just in time for the playoffs and playdowns.  Mikayla led the scoring with 2 goals and an assist last week with Jolene adding 2 assists and Samantha scoring the other goal.  Players of the game went to Emma, Ashley and Dora at the tournament.  The team and their entourage's had a great night out on Saturday.  Thanks to our party hostess Glo for taking care of everything.  The second season starts this weekend, let's see what ...

Welcome to 2013, bring on the GOALS!  The girls jumped back into league play this past weekend against two tough opponents in Aylmer on Saturday against Petrolia and at Stratford on Sunday.  With a renewed confidence in their offensive skills and stingy defensive zone play the Blazers skated to a pair well deserved 1-1 ties.  Goals were scored by Samantha on Saturday and a very happy Emily on Sunday.  Ashley assisted on the goal in Stratford.  With 6 seconds left on Sunday, Emma was able to close the door on a five hole attempt on a Stratford breakaway.  This had everyone on the Blazer side ...

The girls finished a tough stretch of their schedule with a well deserved 1-1 tie with East Lambton on Saturday in Aylmer.  The goal was scored by Grace R. and the defence had a solid game while only allowing a couple of good scoring chances to the Eagles.  The team looks ready for their first tournament of the season next weekend in Chatham.

It was a rough weekend for the Blazers that saw them on the wrong end of the score twice in two days.  The girls didn't show any quite though, with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, they got the puck to the net for a chance at a last second game tying goal at the century old arena in Stratford on Sunday morning.  Goaltender Emma played her best game of the season and a great effort by the rest of the team gave a scare to their undefeated opponent in the 2-1 loss.  Grace R. scored on the first shift of the game for the lone Blazer goal.  Congrats to Kaitlyn for scoring her first goal ...

A great game was played by the Blazers on Sunday in Mount Brydges against the Cougars with both teams playing very well in their own zones in this defensive battle.  The Blazers were anchored by first time ever goaltender Cassie who was able to make big saves when needed showing her all round hockey ability.  The saves included one with help from Abby, who stuffed the puck under her goaltender in the crease to stop the play. The only goal of the game was scored by Bailey with a booming shot from the side boards that gave the Blazers a 1-0 lead late in the game and the win.  Congrats to ...
