Peewee BB Leave No Doubt
The Peewee BB hockey team played
their best hockey at a key time providing four outstanding efforts this past
weekend at the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League Championship Weekend
tournament.
Game #1 got off to a slow start but finished strong with a 1-0 victory over St.Catharines. Game #2 was a physical battle as Caledon had difficulties matching the Blazers speed. In the end the Blazers met the physical challenge and went on to win 2-0. The dominance grew each game as the Blazers shut down Scarborough, the highest scoring team in the tournament winning 2-0. In the finals versus St.Catherines the Blazers continued to increase the intensity and controlled the play from the opening face-off until the final whistle of the 5 minute overtime period. Despite out shooting St. Catherines 33-9 the game ended in a 0-0 tie. St. Catherines prevailed in the shoot out, earning the Blazers a silver medal. The Blazers did not allow a goal against in the final seven Lower Lakes playoff games. Shoot out loss aside, with this strong performance, the girls left no doubt to anyone who witnessed this tournament – they are #1. Great work ladies, we are all proud of your accomplishment.
